Please help me welcome Tally Adams as today’s Wednesday’s Guest. She is the author of Shadow Pact, the paranormal romance I introduced here last Sunday, and she is here sharing a bit about the people who talk to her in her head. All of us who write stories know exactly what she means and how embarrassing it can be if people see us talking back. Anybody remember Elwood P. Dowd and his imaginary rabbit in the stageplay “Harvey”? Elwood was almost locked up, so we should be careful who sees us walking around having a conversation with nobody near us. 🙂
Spring is busting out all over here in my corner of the world, and one of my favorite spring cakes is pineapple-upside-down cake. Grab a piece to go with your beverage of choice and enjoy Tally’s offering.
First, thanks for hosting me, Maryann. I appreciate the support for my book and my writing.
I started writing as soon as I was old enough to hold a pen. For me, writing is like having imaginary friends that simply fail to be outgrown. In my twenties, I went to college and got my nursing degree, determined to do something ‘respectable,’ since having an overactive imagination and a slight obsession with weird facts from history got me nothing but weird looks in polite company. (Go figure!)
I would soon learn, however, that even after working my socks off for twelve hours in the hospital, I couldn’t get rid of the imaginary people in my head. Before I knew it, I’d become a ‘closet writer’, sneaking out to my computer in the middle of the night to get the story that was driving me crazy written down.
Eventually, I had to accept that my imaginary people are simply a part of who I am, and like me, they have a lot to say. At this point in my life, I’ve embraced them for what they are—whatever they are—and stopped fighting them. Instead, I’ve decided to write their stories and share them with the world.
Now, I have entire conversations aloud by myself just to make sure the flow sounds right. So, if you ever pull up to a stoplight and find a woman who appears to be talking to herself; don’t worry, I’m fine. Just wave hi!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Tally Adams lives in Texas with her husband and four children (and one big, fat English bulldog). She’s been writing all her life, realizing at a young age the characters just swirl around maddeningly in her head if she doesn’t put them on paper. Finally, she decided to move forward into the world of publication and share her imaginary friends with the world.
