It’s Tuesday. Not a normal blogging day, I know, but I have something special to share. I really like to support other authors, as you who are regular readers know. For most writers, crowing about their own books is hard. Gosh, we gotta do it sometimes. Well, maybe not crow, but definitely put ourselves out there, and that’s not easy. So it’s wonderful when a friend steps up to do a little crowing for us.
[inlinetweet prefix=”” tweeter=”” suffix=””]Today, I’d like to crow about two of my friends who are releasing new books today.[/inlinetweet]
Kristy Woodson Harvey is celebrating the official release of her latest book, Feels Like Falling that I reviewed here on October 27, 2019. I was lucky to get an advance review copy, and I loved the book.
BOOK BLURB: It’s summertime on the North Carolina coast and the livin’ is easy.
Unless, that is, you’ve just lost your mother to cancer, your sister to her evangelical husband, and your husband to his executive assistant. Meet Gray Howard. Right when Gray could use a serious infusion of good karma in her life, she inadvertently gets a stranger fired from her job at the local pharmacy.
Diana Harrington’s summer isn’t off to the greatest start either: Hours before losing her job, she broke up with her boyfriend and moved out of their shared house with only a busted Impala for a bed. Lucky for her, Gray has an empty guest house and a very guilty conscience.
With Gray’s kindness, Diana’s tide begins to turn, but when the one that got away comes back, every secret from her past seems to resurface all at once. And, as Gray begins to blaze a new trail, she discovers, with Diana’s help, that what she envisioned as her perfect life may not be what she wants at all.
Here’s just a snippet of my review: One of the things that I especially appreciate about Kristy’s work – and it is very evident in Feels Like Falling – are the tidbits of wisdom that are dropped throughout. Early on in the book we get a glimpse of her mother’s wisdom as Gray recalls hearing her mother talking to a friend about living on after losing a child. Gray had a brother who died some years past, but the friend’s loss is fresh. Gray’s mother tells her friend, “… that every day when she wakes up she should get up and get out of the bed. And do something that the child didn’t get to do. Some days you won’t want to, but while you’re here you have to make the choice to live.”
I highly recommend this book for your summer reading. Who knows, by then you might even be able to be lounging on a beach beach somewhere.
The PAPERBACK is available at Bookshop.com, where part of the proceeds go to support independent bookstores.
Next up is Deep In The Alaskan Woods by Karen Harper
BLURB: In the wilds of Alaska, someone sinister is hunting…
Alexandra Collister came to her estranged cousins’ B&B in Falls Lake, Alaska, looking for a fresh start. The surrounding forest can be harsh and unforgiving—luckily, rugged wilderness tracker Quinn Mantell offers to be her guide. Still recovering from a toxic previous relationship, Alex is wary of getting too close, but when savagely deep claw marks appear outside her bedroom window, keeping her distance from Quinn is no longer an option.
Then a body turns up exhibiting the same ruthless slash marks, and Alex knows it isn’t a coincidence. Something sinister is lurking in the woods around Falls Lake, turning Alex’s fresh start into a brutal game of survival. The murky veil of forest offers more threats than answers. Can Alex and Quinn find the killer before darkness falls for good?
I haven’t read this one yet, so I have no review to offer, but it has been endorsed by Tami Hoag who called the story “Compelling.”
The book is available at Amazon * Barnes & Noble * and Apple* and in paperback and hardback at Bookshop
That’s all for me for today folks. I do hope you’ll help me share the news about these new books, and if you have any favorite authors, do give them a mention in a comment. In the meantime, stay safe. Stay well. Stay happy.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
You’re welcome. Glad you saw it. I had the release date firmly in mind because of it being my mother’s birthday. Happy release day. I’ll drink a toast later. I have some good white wine. Hugs!
