STRANDED ON AN ISLAND WITH A ROCKSTAR?
No way. Not today.
Luce thinks Ollie Mills is obnoxious, frustrating, and full of himself. The only thing the bassist of the world famous rock band, Sunset Revival, cares about is a good time and the next woman in his bed. So of all people to be stranded on a deserted island with, Luce can’t believe it has to be him.
Ollie has been crushing on Luce Winchester for months. Finally, finally, she agrees to come stay with him. Well, it’s a visit out of desperation, but he’ll take whatever he can get from this woman. When they get kidnapped and stranded on a random island thanks to a psychotic fan, it’s hardly the first date Ollie had in mind. But there’s more to this devilishly handsome rocker than meets the eye. He’s resourceful, protective, and maybe, just maybe, he can prove to Luce he’s a bet she should take.
In the end will Luce choose to stay with Ollie or leave her love-struck rockstar behind?
*NEVER LEAVE A ROCKSTAR can be read as a standalone, or it can be read as the fourth and final book in Sarah Darlington’s NEVER TRUST Series.
First a disclaimer: I was given an ARC of this book for my honest review. If I had not liked the book, I would have passed. Obviously, I did like the story. 🙂
This is the first book that I’ve read by Sarah Darlington, and I must say that I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I am not a huge fan of romance novels – I will say that up front. But every now and then I do read one and appreciate the fact that most of them are very well written and the characters engaging.
Perhaps because Luce and Ollie are stranded on the island and have to turn to each other for help, they let down their guard and reveal their vulnerable sides, which made them very real to me. Ollie is obviously a “player” and his introspection about his feelings for Luce were most endearing. I really like the fact that it took a long time for the two of them to actually get physical.
I’ve started to read too many romance novels where the sex starts right away, with explicit scenes that seemed forced – gotta have a sex scene by page 20. 🙂 Often, that’s the point where I stop reading.
In this story, the move toward that physical intimacy took enough time that it was natural and organic to the story, and therefore more acceptable and believable for me.
The story is a mix of the romance and suspense, with a bit of mystery thrown into the mix – a mystery revolving around a secret that Luce has been protecting. There is enough of each to satisfy any reader.
Sarah Darlington was born in Colorado and grew up all over the United States. These days, she calls Virginia home, where she lives with her husband, two kids, and large dog. The best word to describe Sarah is ‘creative.’ She’s passionate about designing, crafting, and photography. But most of all… she loves creating stories through her writing. Her romance books are sexy and heart-gripping at their core, guaranteed to make you swoon. Any of them can be read as a stand-alone, but all are connected within the same world.
